Headlines for Sunday, December 7, 2014

Fair weather brought out a large crowd at Saturday evening’s Fairfield Kiwanis Club Christmas Parade. The Grand Marshal’s Choice Award went to the Fairfield Banking Company. The prize was $200. The Best Use of Lights award of $200 went to the Cub Scout Pack 173. Each participating marching band was awarded $200. Marching bands include those from Fairfield Community High School, Double Take Drum Line from Flora, Center Street and Wayne City High School. First place in the Youth-School-Adult Organization category went to Frontier Community College. Second prize went to the Girl Scout Troop 8776, In the Church Category, Cumberland Presbyterian Church took first with the Wesleyan Church taking second. In the Business Category, the Fairfield Banking Company took first with the Fairfield Rural Fire Department taking second. In the Individual-Animal and Antique category, Hal Bryant’s miniature Horses took first with the Phelps Family Float taking second. Longtime educator Linda Monge served as the Parade Grand Marshal.
