Fairfield Mayor Chuck Griswold has appointed a four-person committee to take up the issue of unpaid utility bills in the city. The committee will be made up of Aldermen Jim Griffith and Ralph Barbre, and property owners Diane Robinson and Jewelena Poole. The committee is expected to meet soon to come up with an ordinance that provides help for what the Mayor calls a “financial drain on the city”. Griswold said the city still has about $30,000 in unpaid utility bills owed to them, mostly from renters.

Anyone interested in filling the term can send a letter to City Hall expressing their interest, and must be a resident of the 3rd Ward to be considered. A moment of silence was observed at the start of last night’s meeting for Alderman Morlan.
