Phyllis Ruth Aydt

Aydt75-year-old former McLeansboro and O’Fallon, IL  resident, Phyllis Ruth Aydt of Shiloh, IL died Monday, March 31 at Cedarhurst Care Center in Shiloh, IL.  She was an elementary school teacher in the Cahokia public schools from 1961 until her retirement. she was a long-time volunteer at Christian Activity Center in E. St. Louis and the Granite City soup kitchen.  Her mission work throughout the U.S. inspired many friends and showed her passion for serving the poor. She was a Sunday School teacher in the Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Alice Harris of Bluford, four nephews, three nieces and a host of extended family members and friends.

Funeral services for Phyllis Ruth Aydt will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3 at the Wolfersberger Funeral Home in O’Fallon, IL

Visitation will be 4 – 8 Wednesday evening, April 2 at the Wolfersberger Funeral Home in O’Fallon, IL. Memorials may be made to the Christian Activity Center or Alan P. Lyss, MD, Endowed Share Fund of Cancer Research C/O the Missouri Baptist Healthcare Foundation.

A graveside service for Phyllis Ruth Aydt will be 1 p.m Thursday, April 3 at the Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro.  The Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro provided the obituary information for Phyllys Ruth Aydt.
