The boil order issued for Bone Gap has been lifted. All water samples taken from the water system have passed inspection.
The Wayne County Spelling Bee is tonight at City Hall in downtown Fairfield. The event will begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on WFIW FM – 104.9. WFIW’s Bruce Dickey will be the moderator for the evening.
Illinois’ credit rating has been downgraded again. Fitch Ratings of New York has downgraded Illinois credit to BBB from BBB+. Citing a lack of action on a new budget, Fitch lowered the ratings based on its view of $26 billion in state debt. The new rating places Illinois’ credit rating just above junk status.
Anti-fraud regulations will delay federal income tax refunds this year for taxpayers who file returns claiming two credits available for low-income workers and families. The IRS will hold refunds that claim the earned income and additional child tax credits until after February 15.
The Edwards County High School Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering team placed first in competitions held Wednesday at Olney Central College. The team will now advance to the sectionals at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston on March 9.
A free lunch will be offered this Saturday at the First Christian Church in Fairfield. Saturday’s free lunch will feature ham and beans, coleslaw, cornbread and pineapple upside down cake. Serving will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
