Edwards County authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the owner of a pickup truck left abandoned in the front yard of a rural Edwards County home recently. The truck is believed to have been used in a burglary of a home owned by Dorothy Evans. A computer check of the truck’s VIN shows it registered to an out of area auto dealer that is out of business.
Forecasters are calling for a very warm and wet Christmas this year. Temperatures are forecast to rise to around 60 degrees Sunday with a chance of rain. The last time the temperature hit 60 on Christmas day was 1982.
37-year-old Robert Stevens and his wife, 38-year-old Jeanie Stevens were arrested Wednesday on charges related to the operation of a suspected meth lab at their home in Rinard. Both have been jailed on charges of meth manufacturing and possession of meth. An Illinois State Police meth lab cleanup team was brought in to dispose of hazardous materials found on their property.
Each month, Fairfield Memorial Hospital honors an employee who has exemplified outstanding patient care and customer service. In December, Sara Reid, RN, who has been with Fairfield Memorial Hospital for just over a year, was named Employee of the Month. Sara is Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Fairfield Memorial Hospital who receives rave reviews from her patients. The physicians described her as a very bright and skillful nurse who steps right up and always does a great job no matter how difficult the task.
Cary Pond, Elizabeth Pond and Lisa Fearn have announced plans to retire at the end of the 2017 school year. Their retirement plans were announced at this month’s meeting of the North Wayne School Board.
A lottery will be held next Wednesday to determine ballot name placement for Fairfield mayor. Alderman David Simpson, Brent Maguire and Tim Sullivan filed their petitions simultaneously. A lottery to determine name placement for the April 4 election will be held next Wednesday at 10 a.m. at city hall. Other mayoral candidates are Danny Brooks and James E. Garrett.
