Lawrence Rudolech of Hanover, Indiana took Best of Show in the fifth annual Fairfield Paint Out. Spencer Meagher won best watercolor. About 230 attended the 46th annual Fairfield Coin Club Show and Auction. The event was held Sunday at North Side School. The Fairfield Coin Club has held their monthly meetings at Frontier Community College since1990 and has given $20,000 in scholarship money to date.
Authorities are still searching for a suspect who robbed the Midland State Bank in Farina Friday morning. The suspect displayed a weapon and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.
Enrollment totals for this fall show the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign is the 7th largest public university campus in the U.S. with 44,880 students.
The Fairfield City Council meets Tuesday night in regular session. Aldermen are expected to consider awarding a bid to purchase a new Altec-brand bucket truck for the electrical department. The truck is expected to cost around $200,000.
Wayne County Golf Course is hosting the Medler Mowing & Lawn Care Scramble this Saturday, Oct. 15. Entry fee is $30 for member and $40 for non-members. The sign-up sheet is located outside the pro shop.
