A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3:00 a.m. Monday. Snowfall amounts of 2-3 inches are expected with periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain possible.
The Wayne City 4H Club was featured Friday night as WSIL TV 3’s Unsung Hero for their effort to collect bottled water for Flint, Michigan. According to Janet Schumm, Wayne City 4H Leader, the club is always looking for community service projects and when they heard that local business Elastec American Marine was collecting water to send to Flint, they decided to jump on board. The club collected nearly 9,700 bottles of water. The feature can be viewed on the WSIL website under News and then Unsung Hero.
37-year-old Eric Hall of Carmi faces multiple charges including home invasion, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to a vehicle, motor vehicle theft and fleeing a police officer following an incident Thursday night that culminated in Hall crashing a stolen Ford Explorer into some trees. Hall is being held in the White County Jail under $150,000 bond.
Jurors in southern Illinois have found that an Olney man was the victim of excessive force when law enforcement officers stopped him near Benton in April of 2012. The court’s decision includes more than $32,000 in compensatory and punitive damages. 35-year-old Isaac Capps was pulled over after another driver reported to police that it appeared that he and a female passenger were involved in a domestic dispute. Capps alleged that officers excessively used stun guns after he declined to take a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest.
