An approaching storm system could bring the first measurable snowfall of the season to the region Saturday night. An inch or two of snow is possible Saturday night into Sunday morning. Stay tuned to WFIW for the latest on this system, as the forecast will likely be adjusted with time.
Albion firemen responded to the office area of Champion Labs Thursday evening. Heavy smoke was reported in the building. The sprinkler system extinguished the blaze. A cause was not immediately available. No one was hurt.

62-year-old Randall W. Engleby of Harrisburg was killed Thursday in a three-vehicle crash in Williamson County. Engleby’s coal truck sideswiped a vehicle before overturning in a ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two drivers and their passengers were injured in the crash.

Someone broke out the front window of the El Mexicano Restaurant early Thursday morning, stealing an undetermined amount of cash from the register. Police say surveillance video captured an image of the intruder, leading police to a possible suspect.

23-year-old Justin Rider of Albion is being held under $50,000 cash bond on six separate meth-related charges. Rider is accused of delivering drugs to a confidential source. He is currently on parole from a Hardin County conviction of aggravated battery of a police officer.

23-year-old Kyle Buchanan of Carmi has been sentenced to 2 years in prison in Hamilton County after pleading guilty to a charge of criminal damage to property.

27-year-old Devion D. Henderson of E. St. Louis has been sentenced to 4 years in prison after pleading guilty in Hamilton County Circuit Court to charges he gave police a false name to conceal his identity. He was being questioned about an active warrant out of St. Clair County when he gave the false name.
