Clay County States Attorney Marilyn Brant announced she is retiring at the end June. Brant told Clay County Board members that it was her intention to complete her second term and not run for re-election in 2016 but due to an injury she is being sidelined.

The Cisne Middle School held their graduation ceremonies last night. Two students were named Valedictorian. Both Jenna Atteberry, the daughter of Brad and Becca Atteberry of Mt. Erie and George Riley Gill the son of Nathan and Leslie Gill of Mt. Erie received the honors. Joey Allison the son of Harlan Allison of Cisne and Tia Stringfield of Fairfield was named the Salutatorian.

The FCHS board will meet on Monday night May 18th at 6 pm. The board is expected to accept a letter of resignation from custodian Daniel Bennett, and consider an amendment to the district budget. The board will also consider a resolution to abate $50,000 from the working cash fund to the Operations and Maintenance fund.

The FCHS graduation ceremonies will be held Sunday afternoon at 2pm in the FCHS gym. Superintendent Jill Fulkerson will give the welcome, Senior class president Corbin Kakac will address the class and Elmer McDuffee will present the American Legion award winners. The Valedictorian and Salutatorian will also be named.

Center Street schools annual Vesper service will be held Sunday at 4:30pm at the First Christian Church in Fairfield. Randall Jolly, youth minister at New Beginnings Church will give the invocation, the 8th grade chorus will perform, and the speaker will be Phillip Trent the pastor of the Fairfield Wesleyan Church.
