A 17-year-old Farfield boy was arrested Thursday after he allegedly pulled a knife while being arrested at the High-Rise. Police were called to the high rise to deal with a teen that refused to leave an apartment. While police were arresting the teen, he allegedly pulled a knife. The teen faces charges of aggravated assault of a police officer, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass.
23-year-old Chris Abell of Eldorado had been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty in Hamilton County Circuit Court to a charge of criminal damage to property. In pleading guilty, Abell admitted he took a New Holland tractor without permission and crashed it, causing more than $2,000 damage.
33-year-old Danial Wheat of Geff has been jailed on charges he fired a rifle towards a number of four-wheelers in the Geff area Wednesday evening. No one was hit. Wheat faces charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and disorderly conduct.
A suicidal man in Massac County has been shot and killed by police. Illinois State Police report the man ignored several commands to drop a gun he had pointed at police and was shot. The victim’s name has not been released at this time. State Police are investigating.
Fair weather is forecast for this year’s Fairfield Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt has been set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Leo French Park. Members of the Fairfield FFA and the ladies group from the Life Fellowship Church of God are helping the Lions with the event.
