Fairfield City Police are investigating a rash of vehicle and garage burglaries. Thieves have been taking cash, power tools and lawn and garden tools. In each instance, the vehicles and garages were left unlocked. The annual Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Banquet has been set for Monday evening, March 9 at the Community of Christ Church in Fairfield. During the 94th annual event, Elastec/American Marine will be honored as this year’s Business of the Year. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce office.
Glenn Coleman, General Manager of Elastec/American Marine’s Boom Division was the guest speaker at Thursday’s meeting of the Fairfield Rotary Club. Tonight is Female Athlete Appreciation Night at Fairfield Community High School. At 6 p.m., the FCHS Athletic Department will host a reception for any former and current FCHS female athlete. Following the JV game, a ceremony will be held to honor longtime coach and teacher Peggy Durst and Carol Kline, the all-time Lady Mules scoring leader.
The Fairfield FFA Chapter had a successful night at Section 23 Proficiency Awards in Lawrenceville. Placing first and advancing to District 5 competition were Tristan Payne in Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication, Wyatt Troyer, Electrical Technology, Kevin Short in Forest Products, Alyssa Kollak in Safety, Mercedes Grote in Swine and Cheyenne Brown in Vet Science.
