The Village of Burnt Prairie is planning the construction of a new water tower and the possible expansion of water lines to serve new customers. The possible expansion will affect those with property south of Interstate 64, east of Mill Shoals and near the existing water lines of the Burnt Prairie Water System. Residents interested in joining the system should contact the Village President at 431 Main Street in Burnt Prairie before November 20.
The annual West Salem Veterans Day Memorial Ceremony has been set for 10 a.m. this Tuesday at the Veterans Memorial on the square in West Salem. After the service, lunch will be served to all area veterans and active duty members of the armed forces at the West Salem Community Building.
Fairfield Community High School will present a Veterans Day program this Monday in the East Gym. Fairfield City Patrolman and Marine Corps veteran Justin Titzer will be the keynote speaker. The program will start at 9:45 a.m.
Officials elected during last Tuesday’s General Election will take the oath of office on Monday, December 1. In Edwards County, the ceremony has been set for 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom. Judge Jerry Crisel, a native of Edwards County will preside.
The Fairfield City Council meets Monday night at 6 p.m. Aldermen will consider refinancing bonds that were issued in 2006 to build a power transmission line from Albion to Fairfield. The project cost over $9 million. Officials hope to obtain a lower interest rate on the bonds to save the city a substantial amount of money.
